Stephen and Tabitha King released the following statement to the Occupy Bangor Media Working Group:
“It’s time for the wealthy to pay their fair share before the middle class becomes the forgotten class. And it’s time for the banks to give back what they were given. There are those in politics, particularly those on the conservative side, who can’t get enough of telling people that the wealthy one per cent must not be taxed because doing so kills jobs. The real job-killers are corporate greed and political expediency. It’s time for working people in Maine and all across the country to take back the American dream.”

Thank you Stephen and Tabitha for your support. May it spur others to join the awakening that our country will not survive with such economic disparity. History tells us this and there is no reason to believe America will be the ‘exception’.
Big banks have an obligation to loan out that money that they have been so generously given. Right now they are hoarding it so new jobs are not happening. What is the matter with them? Don’t they want to see Americans succeed?
Thank you Stephen and Tabitha. You’re good people.
The 99% are grateful for the support of the Kings!
It’s heartening to hear people who are considered part of the 1% speak out in favor of the rest of us. This tells me that decent rich folks would have no problem paying more their fair share. Thank you, Stephen and Tabitha, you’ve renewed my faith in human decency.
I was excited to see this, as Bangor is just 10 miles from my home but regrettably that Bangor, Gwynedd, Cymru (Wales) is about 3500miles from you
- good on you in your action!
Pob Hwyl o Cymru
so glad that two of my favorite authors are now two of my favorite people in a much more meaningful way! thank you from a member of the 99%! (from Somerville MA)
Stephen and Tabitha King know what it’s like to be poor-they’ve never forgotten their roots, even though he’s a mult-millionaire.
He’s earned every penny he ever made, and he’s given back more than most people ever do.
I am a member of Occupy Boston and Veterans for Peace. Taking back the American Dream is all well and good. But what about those who never had a chance to begin with. Yeah, rebuild the middle class and the disenfranchised of America get lost in the shuffle once more. I prefer to tear down the Patriarchal Pyramid, which is the root of all greed and evil, replace it with a Matriarchal Circle, and rebuild from the bottom up. This way if anyone is forgotten it will be those at the top, for a change. Thank you and keep up the good work. WE CAN DO THIS!
I’ll never forget the robocall I got on Halloween night 2004. It was only two days before the presidential election.
“Helllllooo, Happy Halloween. This is Stephen King and you know what I think is really scary? Putting Bush and Cheney back in the White House for another four years.”
John Kerry won all of Maine’s electoral votes.
Move Your Money. We’ve got to get thier attention somehow.
Thanks for your thoughts, Stephen and Tabitha… and to all who have posted here. The “Occupy” movement has many people thinking about democracy. Demonstrations – and the support of them – help the process of change. Change begins when we acknowledge that we have a problem. As part of that initial step, I submit the online survey, http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KB393MN. Please take a look, and share the survey it via FaceBook if you believe the questions are worth considering.
I’m not surprised to read this from King and his wife. Anyone who know’s anything of their history knows that they are 99 percenters who through hard work and talent got to become part of the 1 percent. But unlike so many they (especially King the more vocal and well known half of the couple) have never attempted to pretend that they did it all by themselves with no help.
Bravo, Mr. & Mrs. King,
Eloquently and clearly stated!
Thank you for lending your illustrious name to this great movement.
I’m very encouraged to know this about the both Stephen & Tabitha King.

What is “Free Enterprise”? What is is driving force? Clue it has nothing to do with a fair share!
